+ How far in advance should I book my wedding date, for makeup and hair services?
Weddings can be booked up to a year in advance, and no later than 3 months to ensure your date. However, if you are in a pinch, let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
+ When should I book for my makeup and hair preview?
Previews should be booked 4-6 weeks in advance. We recommend booking your preview on a special day, so that you can show off your beautiful look. Many brides will book it on the day of their bridal shower, engagement shoot or bachelorette party.
+ How should I prepare my hair and skin for the preview?
The bride’s hair should be clean and completely dry (washed the night before) in order to have the hair set properly. Brides should moisturize their skin prior to the Trial Run; this will enable the makeup to go on smoother and last longer. Please do not wax your brows or receive a facial closer than 5 days prior to the event, but if you need one prior to that week, we offer waxing and mini facials in our boutique! We even have special bridal packages that include facials and waxing, just ask!
+ How long does a preview last?
The bride should give herself an average of 2 hours to ensure she receives everything she's ever dreamed.
+ What is involved in a preview?
We take bridal previews very seriously. The bride will discuss different looks and the details of her wedding with the artists and will receive a complete makeup and hair service in our salon, with complimentary champagne. The artist(s) will take very detailed notes about your final look as well as take photos.
Please bring your veil and headpiece if you have purchased it. If not, we have plenty of accessories for you to look at and try on. Sometimes brides will schedule previews for their mom or Maid of Honor, we have enough space to do two people at the same time.
+ Besides bringing in my headpiece and veil to the preview, do I need anything else?
We recommend that the bride to bring in photos of makeup and hair ideas for the wedding day.
+ How do I choose the right artist?
After speaking with you on the phone about your desired wedding look, we pair you with the artist that best suits your needs. You are welcome to view their work on Instagram, using the following format #vanitybellefirstname.
+ Will the artist at my preview be the same artist for my wedding day?
Absolutely! The purpose of your preview is to tryout looks with the artist that will be assigned to you for your wedding day. The day your preview is booked, we place a tentative hold on that artist for your wedding date.
+ What if I have short hair and want it to look longer, what can I do?
We recommend purchasing clip-in extensions to best achieve your desired look. If you are unsure, that’s ok, your hair artist will discuss with you at your preview and make some recommendations. We have samples for you to try on at your trial and the artist can show you how they would look with your bridal style. If you love them, we can color match you and place an order that day. We can typically recieve your order within 3-5 business days. We can style both clip-in extensions or any type of permanent extensions ie. bead, sewn-in, etc. as long as it is real hair.
+ Do you offer in-home services for my wedding day makeup and hair?
Yes! We have the largest team of freelance makeup and hair stylists that strictly specialize in doing in-home services all over Southern California and beyond.
+ How do I book bridal services?
All of our bridal service bookings are treated with a little extra TLC. Please start by filling out our bridal inquiry form and our bridal director will be in touch with you withing 24-48 hours.
+ Why should I hire a Vanity Belle’s bridal team for my big day?
First of all, hiring a professional hair and makeup company that you can rely on will give you the peace of mind on your wedding day. We hear too many sad stories about individual freelance artists falling through. We guarantee that this won’t happen. You will sign a contract that ensures you are locked in for your big day.
Secondly, our artists are all professionally trained in bridal beauty. We know what looks good on camera and what will last through sweat and tears.
Lastly, you won’t find a more fun team to hang out with on your big day. We are friendly, humble and respectful to all of our clients. We love weddings and have a blast being a part of the experience!
+ Why is the bride’s hair & makeup more expensive than the bridal party?
For starters, more time and attention is spent with the bride from the very first day of contact, up until the day of the wedding. From phone calls, emails, contracts, and creating day-of schedules to the extra time spent getting the bride ready on her big day, placing her veil, additional touch-up time, and spending extra time on her hair & makeup, our focus is always on her. Since the the bride is the main client, as it’s her wedding day, all of this is included in her price. Since it’s a group the others are less, which if the bride is paying for them too—it saves her money. If we charged the same for bridesmaids that we have to charge the bride — the likely wouldn’t have their hair or makeup done. We have to earn a certain amount for blocking out the time it takes too. Our costs are all our own–time, education/skills, products, mileage and general costs of running a business. That’s why we have to charge what may seem a higher rate in general.
+ Is there a Deposit required to book my Wedding?
Yes, a $200 deposit is required to secure your chosen artists for your big day.
+ How long will my makeup and hair take on the wedding day?
We typically spend a total of 2 hours on the bride for hair & makeup. Bridesmaids will take about 45 minutes each, unless someone has abnormally long or thick hair. We prefer to do the bride last, or second to last so that she is the most fresh and camera ready.
+ How should I prepare for my wedding day hair and makeup?
Have everyone in the bridal party arrive with clean, dry hair and clean moisturized skin compatible for fresh makeup. If you have SPF in your moisturizer, we recommend avoiding anything over 15 SPF to avoid the “white face” look in photos. Exfoliate your lips so that your lipstick will stick, and whiten those pearly white teeth so that your smile stands out in photos. On the day of, wear a robe or button down shirt so that your hair will stay in place, and sit back, relax, and enjoy the pampering before you walk down the aisle.
+When should the Bride's hair and makeup be completed on the "day of" beauty schedule?
The “ready” time is ultimately up to the Bride; however, we try to keep the Bride's services as close to the ready time as possible to allow her extra time to sleep, or complete any last-minute wedding preparations. For makeup, we prefer the bride go last so that all she has left to do is put on her dress when the photographer arrives. Brides should consider having their makeup totally done before the photographer arrives and just stage the lips and mascara being done for photographs. This way you aren’t caught with “before” makeup pictures and you will look flawless in your “Getting Ready” photos.
+Are touch-ups included for my entire bridal party?
Yes! We will often refer to the touch up time as the ‘golden hour.’ For every wedding we block off the last 30 - 45 minutes before leaving to ensure that everyone looks perfect! Our hairstylist will check for any loose pieces of hair or bobby pins while applying last minute hairspray to make sure every strand of hair stays in place. Our makeup artists will check for any smudges and apply any powder or setting spray before leaving. All additional time is used to help our artists clean up and pack.
+Can my bridal party add any additional services the day of?
Yes. We understand that sometimes there might be a member in your family or bridal party that asks if they can receive services on the day of. Please make sure to ask your artists first, and all services that are added on must be paid ONLY by check to Vanity Belle or you can send us an email/ text to add it to your invoice.
